Biography
Dr. Whitney chose to be a family medicine physician because she loves the variety and potential to care for the entire family, and the best part of the job is the cherished relationships she is able to develop with her patients and their families. There are many roles as a family physician including coach, confidante, counselor, cheerleader, caregiver, collaborator, and consultant, but “the experience of being valued is the beginning of healing.” Throughout her medical career and volunteering experiences, Dr. Whitney has embraced this philosophy of caring as she builds respectful relationships with patients.

Special Interests
Outside of the office, Dr. Whitney has many interests and hobbies. She participates in volleyball leagues and enjoys snowshoeing. Her hobbies include gardening, baking, chronicling life reviews, challenging word and logic puzzles, and finding the perfect greeting card! Dr. Johnston-Rickert enjoys hanging out with family and friends in her free time, as well as doing anything outdoors, cooking, kayaking, and traveling.
